Kurban
Bayram
Kurban Bayram is the sacred for all Muslims holiday. It is celebrated
on 10, 11 and 12th of sacred month Kurban by the Moon Calendar. The
Moon calendar is shorter then the Sun Calendar, therefore Kurben Bayram
is a moveable holiday, and it can be celebrated different times of year.
In the beginning of this month every Muslim makes "Hadj".
This happens on the 10th. The whole month is considered sacred. These
days people sacrifices different animals. The third of the meat is used
to cook the dinner and all the rest is given to pure people.
There is a tradition to visit your neighbors' houses during these days.
And you have to visit not less than 7 houses. Another interesting tradition
is to swing. People belive that it helps to dump all the sins you have.
Oraza Bayram
Oraza Bayram is one of the main Muslim holidays marking the end of a
30-day fast during the holy month of Ramadan. According to a decree
of the head of state, this day was declared a day-off in Turkmenistanreports.
According to the tradition, holiday prayers are offered in all the country's
mosques, and sacrifice dinners are served all over the country. People
visit each other and lay bountiful tables. It is customary to treat
neighbors to special meals, visit holy places and commemorate the deceased
parents.
