Spring Celebrations

Novruz Bayram
Novruz Bayram is the first Spring holiday celebrated in Turkmenistan. A holiday of a new day a new life. It is the time when everything is waking up after the long and cold winter. It is celebrated in the days of the Spring Equinox. The history of this holidays leaves its roots far in the past. Turkmen people celebrated this holiday by stamping the expensive gold coins in the 3rd century BC in the ancient Parfia. The construction of the spiritual temples always begun in spring. In times of Oguz Han during the days of Novruz Bayramsome Turkmens put up the white houses, jumped through the fire and girls sang "Lyale Lyele"(one of the traditional songs). These traditions were kept up till nowadays.
The holiday of Nowruz is celebrated every year March 20, 21, 22.

Drop of water is a grain of gold Holiday.
The holiday is celebrated since 1995 every first Sunday of April. According to national customs and traditions Turkmen people always valued water. This holiday symblolizes a great respect to this tradition.

Turkmen Horse Day
This holiday is celebrated every last Sunday of April to recognize the beauty and the grace of elegant Ahal Teke horses. On this day people get together to watch amazing horse gallops and exhibitions.

Victory Day
A great Victory in the 1941-1945 war has marked itself in history as the most sever fight for the freedom and independence. That is why Victory Day is celebrated on the state level with the military parades, colorful fireworks, congratulating and thanking veterans. The holiday is celebrated on May 9th.
Starting 2004, May 8th is marked as the Day of Memory in honor of all the victims of the war. In memory of all the brave Turkmen soldiers who died during the battles people give Sadaka (Turkmen commemoration) in every corner of Turkmenistan.

The day of revival and unity and Constitution Day.
The day of revival and unity in Turkmenistan is marked since 1992. The same date of May 18, 1992 - day of acceptance of the Constitution of Turkmenistan. Per the first years of independence of May 18 - day of acceptance of the Constitution independent Turkmenistan - the country marked as a national holiday of revival and unity, and May 19 gave due to the classic of Turkmen literature, poet and philosopher Magtymguly Pyragy. Then was decided to unit these dates in one holiday.

Carpet Day
The holiday of the Turkmen Carpet is celebrated every last Sunday of May. This day is a great opportunity to conduct different kinds of art exhibitions and dancing shows.
